We may use information to process reservations and rentals; verify renters, responsible parties, and authorized drivers; communicate about reservations, pickups, returns, payments, or customer service; process transactions; document rental equipment and its use; administer Rental Agreements and Payment and Credit Card Authorizations; prevent fraud, theft, misuse, or unauthorized rentals; maintain accounting and business records; comply with legal obligations; improve our services; and protect U-HAUL-IT, LLC, its customers, and its property.

3. Driver's License & Insurance Documentation

As part of the rental process, U-HAUL-IT, LLC may collect photographs or copies of a valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance from the responsible party or renter. U-HAUL-IT, LLC may also collect the same documentation from any additional driver authorized to operate with the trailer. This information is collected for rental administration, identity and authorization verification, documentation, risk management, and related business purposes.

4. Payment Processing Through Square

U-HAUL-IT, LLC uses Square to process customer payments. When you make a payment, payment-card and transaction information may be collected and processed by Square in accordance with Square's own privacy and security practices.

U-HAUL-IT, LLC may receive and retain information associated with a transaction, such as customer contact information, transaction amount, payment status, receipt information, and limited payment-card details made available by Square.

U-HAUL-IT, LLC does not independently store complete credit or debit card numbers through its website. Where the renter has completed or accepted a Payment and Credit Card Authorization, Square may securely maintain the payment credentials and U-HAUL-IT, LLC may initiate charges as permitted by that authorization, the applicable Rental Agreement, and law. Such charges may include, as applicable, rental charges, approved extensions, late fees, damage or loss, excessive cleaning, missing equipment, recovery expenses, and other authorized amounts due.

5. Website Hosting & Domain Services

The U-HAUL-IT, LLC website is hosted by Bluehost. In connection with providing website hosting and related services, Bluehost may process technical information associated with visits to the website, including IP addresses, browser or device information, server logs, and information necessary to operate, secure, and maintain the website.

The U-HAUL-IT, LLC domain is registered through GoDaddy, which provides domain-registration and related services.

6. Sharing of Information

U-HAUL-IT, LLC does not sell customer personal information. We may disclose information to service providers that help operate our business, including Square, Bluehost, GoDaddy, electronic-signature providers, insurers, accountants, attorneys, technology providers, or other vendors performing services on our behalf. Information may also be disclosed when reasonably necessary to comply with law or legal process, investigate fraud or theft, enforce a Rental Agreement or Payment and Credit Card Authorization, process an insurance or damage claim, recover property, or protect the rights, safety, or property of U-HAUL-IT, LLC or others.

Our website may use cookies and similar technologies necessary to operate the site, maintain security, remember preferences, understand website usage, or provide functionality supplied by website service providers. If U-HAUL-IT, LLC later adds advertising, analytics, or other tracking technologies that materially change these practices, this Privacy Policy may be updated accordingly.
